Flavor Profile
Flavorah Blackberry is a well-rounded dark berry for the maker who wants a dependable fruit to build on, unified enough that no single note sticks out.
Expect a darker, jammy blackberry with a natural note. The body is round and satisfying, small seed-like notes add realism, and a bright tartness flickers on the finish. It can lean toward a candied profile when the recipe calls for it, or stay natural.
Intensity is moderate. Blackberry is a very flexible flavor for dark berry recipes, natural or candied: on its own, in mixed-berry blends, in jams and pies, and under cream and custard. A touch of lemon or another tart partner brings it into focus; too much makes a blend heavy and flat, so start small and build.
Create Endless and Indelible Memories with Flavorah
All the flavors that we make at Flavorah are designed for mixing complex, layered recipes for products that may be consumed. Even though this Blackberry flavor will stand alone with memorable and captivating notes, we believe you will enjoy it most when you blend it with other flavors. It is our mission to create concentrates and extracts that become a powerful tool of flavor art in your culinary palette.
Use this Blackberry flavoring concentrate to develop your own artistic creations. As you blend it together with other complementary flavor layers, it will develop nuances and notes that either soften or strengthen according to your desire.
The layers of a completed flavoring profile can come from another Flavorah concentrate, such as Cream or Vanilla Custard, or from the medium you choose to mix it with. Try mixing Flavorah in baked goods, sweet frosting, syrups, a sugar-free smoothie, or a cocktail beverage.
Flavorah makes flavor art into an expression of individual perception and beauty. Our flavoring is designed to empower you to communicate this balance of potent perfection with the sense of taste and smell. Our Blackberry flavoring can harness the passing moments of enjoyment that will be experienced by everyone who samples your creation.
Flavorah is a product meant for the artist who wants to be tasted not heard, and smelled but not seen.
We know success when we see the satisfaction on the faces of our customers who create their own recipes. We delight in seeing our customers' recipes making the world a more bountiful experience for everyone to enjoy.
Layering Partners
Flavor artists often build Blackberry with these partners; let your palate set the balance:
Customers also love Blackberry with:
- Flavorah Cream for blackberry ice cream, cream sodas, and milkshakes
- Flavorah Vanilla Custard for blackberry custard, trifle, and pie fillings
- Flavorah Lemon for blackberry lemonade, sours, and a sharper jam
- Flavorah Raspberry for a bramble-style mixed berry
- Flavorah Apple and Flavorah Cactus Apple for a fruit punch or crumble
Mood Through Combination
With cream and custard, Blackberry turns comforting and nostalgic, like a summer pie. With lemon it brightens into a picnic drink, and with raspberry it becomes a lively bramble that invites discovery.
Recipe Ideas
Flavor artists often build blackberry lemonade with Lemon, a blackberry and apple crumble with Apple, and a bramble-style berry jam with Raspberry. Over Vanilla Custard and Cream, Blackberry makes a rich berry custard or ice cream.
Mixing Notes
Sweetness leads in this blackberry, so balance it with a tart partner instead of adding more. For pies and jams, a small amount of Lemon sharpens the fruit.
Building a Recipe
Shape a recipe one layer at a time: start with a small amount of Blackberry, taste, and build in small steps, testing in your own batch. As the hero fruit it sits toward the middle of each range; as one berry among several, lower. Set the ratios first, then the total.
DIY Flavoring in the Kitchen or Behind the Bar
- Beverages (home brew, cocktails, sodas): 0.03-1.5% of the finished drink; start at 0.1%, about 7 drops per 8 oz glass or about 19 ml in a 5-gallon home brew.
- Custom syrups: 2% or stronger (1 part flavor to 50 parts syrup); start at 2%, about 1 tsp per cup of syrup. Make it bold, then dose the syrup to taste.
- Baking: 0.2-3% by weight of batter or dough; start at 1%, about 1 tsp per 500 g of cake batter. Pies and jam-filled bakes carry it well.
- Frostings, fillings, dairy, and frozen: 0.1-2% by weight; start at 0.3%, about 45 drops per 500 g of frosting.
- Candy and gummies: 0.2-4% by weight; start at 0.5%, about 1/2 tsp per 500 g batch. Add as the batch cools.
- DIY fishing bait: 0.5-5% or higher by weight of bait; start at 1%, about 1 tsp per pound of dough bait. A sweet dark berry is worth testing in dough baits.
- DIY animal attractants: 1-5% or higher by weight; start at 2%, about 1 3/4 tsp per pound of attractant.
- Home aroma (candles, diffusers, room sprays): 1-5% by weight of wax or base; start at 2%, about 1 3/4 tsp per 16 oz candle.
