Flavor Profile
Flavorah Black Currant is a starting point with many destinations: one dark berry that turns into a lemonade, a grape candy, or a tropical punch depending on what you pair it with.
This is a natural black currant with a hint of tartness, some jam, and a dark purple-fruit depth, never too syrupy. It is less candy-sweet than strawberry or raspberry, which makes it a grounding layer beneath brighter fruit and grape.
Black Currant is a forgiving flavor that rarely overpowers a mix, so it is an easy supporting dark fruit for blueberry, boysenberry, raspberry, and lemonade. At the very highest levels a floral note can appear; start small and build, and add Boysenberry when you want more body. Choose your partners, and let the berry follow.
Create Endless and Indelible Memories with Flavorah
All the flavors that we make at Flavorah are designed for mixing complex, layered recipes for products that may be consumed. Even though this Black Currant flavor will stand alone with memorable and captivating notes, we believe you will enjoy it most when you blend it with other flavors. It is our mission to create concentrates and extracts that become a powerful tool of flavor art in your culinary palette.
Use this Black Currant flavoring concentrate to develop your own artistic creations. As you blend it together with other complementary flavor layers, it will develop nuances and notes that either soften or strengthen according to your desire.
The layers of a completed flavoring profile can come from another Flavorah concentrate, such as Lemonade or Grape, or from the medium you choose to mix it with. Try mixing Flavorah in baked goods, sweet frosting, syrups, a sugar-free smoothie, or a cocktail beverage.
Flavorah makes flavor art into an expression of individual perception and beauty. Our flavoring is designed to empower you to communicate this balance of potent perfection with the sense of taste and smell. Our Black Currant flavoring can harness the passing moments of enjoyment that will be experienced by everyone who samples your creation.

Recipe Ideas
Black Lemonade: Lemonade, Black Currant, Grape, Boysenberry, Sweetness, Jammy Berry, and Ice at 18:6:6:5:3:1:1, a mixed berry and grape lemonade. For more currant presence with extra body, add Boysenberry or Jammy Berry alongside it; at the very highest levels Black Currant can lean floral.
Building a Recipe
Begin with a small amount of Black Currant, taste, and build in small steps, testing in your own batch. It usually plays a supporting role, sitting low to middle in each range beneath lemonade, grape, or candy notes. Settle the ratio between Black Currant and its partners first, then adjust the total.

- Frostings, fillings, dairy, and frozen: 0.1-2% by weight; start at 0.3%, about 45 drops per 500 g of frosting.
- Candy and gummies: 0.2-4% by weight; start at 0.5%, about 1/2 tsp per 500 g batch. Add as the batch cools.
- DIY fishing bait: 0.5-5% or higher by weight of bait; start at 1%, about 1 tsp per pound of dough bait.
- DIY animal attractants: 1-5% or higher by weight; start at 2%, about 1 3/4 tsp per pound of attractant.
