Flavor Profile
Flavorah Tropical Citrus feels like a morning walk through a Florida orchard, the air full of oranges and sweet lemons.
It blends notes of orange and sweetened lemon, like a triple-sec margarita: more than one fruit to peel, decidedly tropical, yet not committed to a single citrus.
Intensity is moderate. Tropical Citrus plays nicely with tropical fruits, other citrus, and savory flavors, and it goes especially well with cool mint. Start small and build. It is a fresh, sunny citrus you will return to again and again.
Create Endless and Indelible Memories with Flavorah
All the flavors that we make at Flavorah are designed for mixing complex, layered recipes for products that may be consumed. Even though this Tropical Citrus flavor will stand alone with memorable and captivating notes, we believe you will enjoy it most when you blend it with other flavors. It is our mission to create concentrates and extracts that become a powerful tool of flavor art in your culinary palette.
Use this Tropical Citrus flavoring concentrate to develop your own artistic creations. As you blend it together with other complementary flavor layers, it will develop nuances and notes that either soften or strengthen according to your desire.
The layers of a completed flavoring profile can come from another Flavorah concentrate, such as Tropical Punch or Passion Fruit, or from the medium you choose to mix it with. Try mixing Flavorah in smoothies, sorbet, gummies, or a tropical cocktail.
Flavorah makes flavor art into an expression of individual perception and beauty. Our flavoring is designed to empower you to communicate this balance of potent perfection with the sense of taste and smell. Our Tropical Citrus flavoring can harness the passing moments of enjoyment that will be experienced by everyone who samples your creation.
Flavorah is a product meant for the artist who wants to be tasted not heard, and smelled but not seen.
We know success when we see the satisfaction on the faces of our customers who create their own recipes. We delight in seeing our customers' recipes making the world a more bountiful experience for everyone to enjoy.
Layering Partners
Our customers around the globe have discovered that Tropical Citrus layers well for memorable and complex creations:
- Flavorah Tropical Punch: 1:2 (Tropical Citrus to Tropical Punch) for a palm-shaded punch
- Flavorah Passion Fruit: 1:1 (Tropical Citrus to Passion Fruit) for a tart tropical citrus
Tropical Citrus also pairs beautifully with these; let your palate set the balance:
- Flavorah Garden Mint for a cool citrus mint cooler or mojito-style drink
- Flavorah Mandarin Orange for a deeper orange note
- Flavorah Mangotang and Flavorah Pineapple for a zesty tropical citrus
Mood Through Combination
In a margarita-style drink, Tropical Citrus feels celebratory. With mint it turns refreshing and easy, and with tropical punch it becomes a joyful poolside party.
Recipe Ideas
Palm Life Punch: Tropical Punch, Passion Fruit, Tropical Citrus, and Sweetness at 8:4:4:1, a sunny tropical punch. Flavor artists also build margarita-style mocktails and citrus mint coolers with Garden Mint.
Mixing Notes
Tropical Citrus brings a blended citrus brightness; add mint for coolness or a single citrus such as Mandarin Orange when you want one fruit to lead.
Building a Recipe
Start with a small amount, taste, and build in small steps, testing in your own batch. As the lead citrus it sits toward the middle of each range; as a bright accent in a punch, lower. Settle the ratios first, then the total.
DIY Flavoring in the Kitchen or Behind the Bar
- Beverages (home brew, cocktails, sodas): 0.03-1.5% of the finished drink; start at 0.1%, about 7 drops per 8 oz glass or about 19 ml in a 5-gallon home brew. Margarita-style mocktails and coolers carry it well.
- Custom syrups: 2% or stronger (1 part flavor to 50 parts syrup); start at 2%, about 1 tsp per cup of syrup. Make it bold, then dose the syrup to taste.
- Baking: 0.2-3% by weight of batter or dough; start at 0.6%, about 1/2 tsp per 500 g of cake batter. Adds sunny citrus to glazes and pound cakes.
- Frostings, fillings, dairy, and frozen: 0.1-2% by weight; start at 0.3%, about 45 drops per 500 g of frosting.
- Candy and gummies: 0.2-4% by weight; start at 0.5%, about 1/2 tsp per 500 g batch. Add as the batch cools.
- DIY fishing bait: 0.5-5% or higher by weight of bait; start at 1%, about 1 tsp per pound of dough bait.
- DIY animal attractants: 1-5% or higher by weight; start at 2%, about 1 3/4 tsp per pound of attractant.
- Home aroma (candles, diffusers, room sprays): 1-5% by weight of wax or base; start at 2%, about 1 3/4 tsp per 16 oz candle.
